Terms of use
Version 2026-10-29.
These Terms cover taxtruce.com ("TaxTruce", "we", "us"). TaxTruce is run by CloserDrop LLC, an Illinois limited liability company. By using the site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. What TaxTruce is
TaxTruce is a free matching service. We connect people who owe back taxes with independent tax resolution firms, such as enrolled agents, CPAs and tax attorneys.
- We are not the IRS, a state tax agency, or any government agency. We are not part of, approved by or paid by any government.
- We are not a law firm, a CPA firm or a tax preparer. We do not give tax, legal or money advice.
- We do not settle, lower or remove any tax debt. We do not represent you with the IRS or your state.
- TaxTruce is free to use. The firms that work with us pay us for referrals. That does not change what a firm may charge you.
2. No results promised
We do not promise any result. We do not promise that a firm will take your case, that any program will accept you, or that you will owe less. Results depend on your situation. Not every case qualifies.
- Any numbers on this site, including calculators, are estimates based on public IRS and state rules. Your IRS notice or online account shows your real balance.
- Most people who ask for an offer in compromise do not get one accepted. The IRS has a free pre qualifier tool at irs.gov.
- You can always contact the IRS or your state tax agency yourself, for free.
3. Contact consent
When you check the consent box and confirm your phone, you agree that the tax resolution firms that work with TaxTruce may contact you about your tax debt. The box says: "I agree that tax resolution firms that work with TaxTruce may call or text me at this number, including by automated means. Not required to buy anything. Reply STOP to opt out."
- The firms that may contact you are listed on our partners page.
- More than one firm may contact you by phone, text or email.
- Consent is not a condition of any purchase.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- You can stop at any time, in any words: reply STOP to a text, tell the firm, or use Do not call me. We honor a stop request within 10 business days.
4. The firms are independent
Each firm is its own business. It sets its own fees and services, and it is responsible for its own work and its own words.
- A firm must tell you its fees in writing before you hire it. Ask what is refundable.
- You never have to hire any firm. Compare before you sign anything.
- Tell us if a firm says it is the IRS, promises a result, or pressures you. Use our contact page.
5. Your information must be true
Only enter your own information and your own phone number. Never type your Social Security number, bank or card numbers, or IRS login on this site. We never ask for them.
6. Facts and sources
We link the sources behind the facts on this site. Tax laws, rates and deadlines change. Nothing here is tax, legal or financial advice.
7. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy says what we collect and who we share it with. You can use Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information at any time.
8. Limits
The site is provided "as is". To the full extent the law allows, we are not liable for what a firm does or says, or for any tax result. Illinois law governs these Terms.
9. Changes
We will post changes here with a new version and date.
10. Contact
