Can I sell my house with an IRS lien?

Updated October 8, 20261 sourceTaxTruce teamFact checked
The short answer

Often, yes. A lien discharge can remove the lien from that one property so the sale can close. See IRS Publication 783 for how to apply. Subordination is a different tool. It lets a new lender go ahead of the IRS, which can help a refinance.

The lien still attaches to your other property after a discharge.
